Riverdale will accept sealed bids until 7 30 p m Tuesday July 22 1930 for laying 310 feet of four inch class B cast iron water pipe from the existing main west of Wabash Avenue to east thereof along a line north of 127th place plus one fire hydrant and one gate valve. Phoenix Police Chief Faces Extortion Charge Over Bootleg Plot

Chief Stephen Smuda of Phoenix is accused of extortion after allegedly taking 200 dollars from Daniel Paladino to protect a bootleg liquor scheme in Phoenix. Paladino reported the matter to the state's attorney and detectives recovered the marked bills. The chief, arrested near Mayor J Smuczynski's office, denied the accusation as prosecutors summoned the mayor and six trustees for questioning.

Dolton Woman Mrs Henry Dillner Dies After Long Illness

Mrs. Henry Dillner of Dolton dies at 532 Chicago Street on July 10 at age 68 after a prolonged illness including a period of unconsciousness. Born Fredericka Haas in Glassgow Germany on March 5 1862 she came to America in childhood and married Henry Dillner October 12 1878 at Dolton. She leaves a husband a son Edward J three grandchildren and many siblings and friends. She long served in church and civic groups and her funeral will be held July 12 at Immanuel church with interment at Oaklawn cemetery Thornton.

Herbert Horton Dies in Dolton Ice and Trucking Pioneer

Herbert Horton former Dolton resident died at his daughter Mrs Guy Miles home July 3 at age 55. Despite losing an arm he built a successful ice and trucking business.
