Judges Arrested Over Ballot Fees In Blue Island Election
The Blue Island Standard reports two election judges John Young and George W Hartzell from the east side polling place were indicted for refusing to hand out township and park district ballots until extra payment was made. They accepted five dollars for each election and delayed or denied ballots to voters, with one party paying five dollars to secure township ballots. The State's Attorney moved to indict both judges, each on bonds of one thousand dollars, while the county board trimmed ties to those involved.
