At the June 21 awards dinner in Riverdale the Muscular Dystrophy Association honored South and West Community Chairmen. Marian P. Staniec presented the Chairman Awards. guest speaker Dr. J Morrison Brady discussed muscular dystrophy causes and cures.
The Harvey Bridge Club crowned Mixed Pair champions from its June 27 and 29 tournament at the American Legion, 138th Street location. First went to J. O. Ernst and Phyllis Roth, with Joann Lewis and Dr. David Effron second, Ambrose and Mary Burke third, Kim Lenzotti and Marge Plantinga fourth, Mrs. Wm B. Kane and Ozzie Foster fifth, and Waltern Knight sixth. George E. Laird announced club info and contact number for inquiries.
The Dalton Riverdale South Holland Swim Club invites children aged seven and up to join the first session starting July 10. The first 100 sign ups will attend sessions from Tuesday to Friday for three weeks from 10 to 11 am, at a fee of $3 per session. Children need not be members but must be accompanied by a parent. Lifeguards are on duty Mondays 10 to 11 am for handicapped children in the Tri-City area. A second session follows July 31.
Rep Walker remains listed as vice chairman of the Cities and Villages Municipal Problems Commission and a member of the Illinois Municipal League Legislative Advisory and Policy Committees after a serious water skiing accident.
At a 4:30 PM special stockholders meeting on May 24 1962 the First Trust and Savings Bank of Riverdale adopted a resolution to expand the board from seven to nine directors. The by laws section now states the board shall consist of nine stockholders each owning at least forty shares free of encumbrance. Riverdale Illinois.
