Dalton Board Holds Meeting On Lincoln Avenue Crossing Safety

At the Dalton regular session, Tuesday night, with President Harris presiding, town officials discussed extra protection at the Lincoln avenue crossing used by B and O C T and I H B trains. Railway reps offered cooperation, but favored signals or blinkers over another watchman, noting few trains run during school hours.

Robber Shot By Car Owner In Chicago Heights

A Chicago Heights man returning from the theater was held at gunpoint by a masked robber. The car owner, carrying a loaded pistol, fired several shots injuring the assailant. The wounded robber fled, but police traced him to a local home where a colored youth was arrested and later admitted four similar holdups in Chicago Heights.

Man Struck by Freight Train At Steel Plant Crossing

Chris Ende, 136th Street Riverdale, an Acme Steel Company plant sweeper, was seriously injured Monday evening at 5 15 when struck by an eastbound ten car freight train at the plant road crossing. He fell clear of the wheels, sustained cuts, and was taken to Blue Island hospital where doctors report a badly injured shoulder and hope to save use of his arm.

Skeleton found while digging in Thornton yard

FOUND SKELETON G Van Ryswick of Thornton was digging in his backyard Thursday evening about eight o'clock last week when he uncovered a human skeleton about one and a half feet underground. Police and coroner's office take the remains for investigation.

Mrs Aglae Bessette aged 70 widow of Henry Bessette died after a lingering illness at her daughter Mrs E Vincent's home in Roseland.
