Judge Sues For False Arrest In Wisconsin
Joseph W. Richter of Madison files a 25000 dollar complaint in the Superior Court alleging false arrest by Frank Mech, a 23 year old Posen police magistrate. Richter says he paid a 100 dollar liberty bond as bail that was kept, and he was rearrested on a state warrant after seeking the bond return. Taxpayers face 1923 income tax filing period
The 1923 tax filing period runs from January 1, 1924 to March 15, 1924 with penalties for late returns. Form 1040A, reduced to a single sheet for wage earners earning five thousand dollars or less, replaces the former form. Those with business, farming, rent, or property income over five thousand must use Form 1040, and Form 1040 is required for all over five thousand. Copies of both forms will be sent to 1922 filers and are available at IRS offices on request.
