Co-operation Plan Moves Toward Farmer Cooperative

Local No. 20 in South Holland drew 200 representative farmers to discuss onion set and sugar beet contracts. Aimed at securing top prices for 1920, talks split with contractors, then a second gathering formed a Farmers Cooperative Marketing Association with Wm. Van Bodegraven president and E. R. Berger secretary. A formation committee drafted a constitution and by laws as growers favor marketing through a cooperative to curb contractor control of onion set warehouses and equipment across Cook and nearby Lake County, Indiana.
