Chicago Coated Board may start Chicago plant on 138th St
A likely new Chicago Coated Board Co plant on 138th Street east of the C E I tracks may begin building on land fronting the Calumet River. The project, linked to the Robert N. Gaire Co, could include a siding from the Michigan Central line and tie into B O C T and Indiana Harbor Belt. The facility would cost about 4 million dollars, house 2000 employees, and move over 100 freight cars daily. Existing operations include a plant at 420 East North Water Street and a city office in the Hearst Building.
