Burned in Brickyard Fire Fatal in Burr Oak Hotel Resident
Chas Nelson, longtime Burr Oak Hotel resident, died from burns after a fire destroyed the Pullman yard of the Illinois Brick Company early December 14. He slept above the engine room and did not escape. The fire’s cause is unknown per W E Sweet superintendent of the yards. Nelson belonged to Harmonize Lodge No 2 I O C F and funeral services were held Saturday at 2 pm from Doty’s undertaking rooms in Kensington.
