Lincoln teachers staged When the Light Went Out for the Lincoln PTA on Tuesday afternoon December 6. The Toy orchestra directed by Miss Minardow entertained, showing how young pupils make music with patient training. A business session followed with a Christmas project and a bit of Student Aid for the organization.
Mr V K Brown, superintendent of playgrounds for the South Park Commission, spoke on Your Child in His Leisure Time before the Washington School P T A. Toys and equipment were shown, junior high school stuffed animals sold, and P T A posters awarded. A December 8 dance, led by Mrs W W Hazen, featured a four piece orchestra with affordable refreshments and holiday decor.
The girls and boys glee clubs directed by Miss Florence Samuels will sing Christmas carols at the Thornton Township high school and Junior College P T A meeting on December 19 at 8 o clock in the high school auditorium. Proceeds from a November candy sale will fund student aid. The Franklin P T A held a child study group on December 7 with nine mothers attending, and a December 8 meeting featured Mrs. Chester Green on censored motion pictures and parent education urging careful movie choices for children.
The playlet What! No Christmas drew hearty laughs with a big cast led by Mother Miss H Melin and Father Mrs L Koch. Grandma Mrs E Wise and Miss J Hanford gave jolly, witty turns while Mrs S Dalton and Mrs H Fadke provided comic relief as Old Time Fun and Common Sense.
Knights of Columbus present a three act comedy Second Story Pegey with mystery on Sunday January 15 at St Marys Church. Special 2:50 PM matinee for children and an 8:15 PM evening show. Council mourns Brother Conrad Kern charter member and former leader. Our condolences to the family.
A man at 144th Street in New York was rundown with no pep. Vinci iron tonic restored his strength and vigor, making a new man of him and Dolton Drug Store offered the remedy.
Comrade Hampton leads a well polished drill team for Friday night events. A Fourth district Palos Park gathering discussed a future trust fund with trustees Robert C. Haney, Carl Maurer, and Herman Wiebke. A January 4 dance is planned, band concert drew a large crowd, December 20 meeting at 8 00 p m, and post members shared a lunch after.
The American Legion Auxiliary holds its next regular meeting December 22 at 8 p.m. A New Year’s Eve clown party is planned by the American Legion and Auxiliary with informal costumes. The Junior Auxiliary Christmas party is scheduled for December 28 at 2 p.m. The membership drive committee will meet at Mrs Frankie Albrecht’s home on December 29 at 2 p.m. Members are urged to attend.
About 125 attend a reception and fish supper Friday night for Walter Nowak Grand Conductor of the Grand Lodge of Illinois. Grand Master and deputies join as entertainment by local youths and Nowak receives traveling robe for state travel in Odd Fellowship duties. Regular lodge meeting Friday Dec 16 welcomes all.
