Riverdale hosts gatherings with Schultzs and Marletts while Calumet waterfront docks a large lake steamer. WHIP radio commentator Raymond Pracht invites listeners to Monday broadcasts. various church groups and clubs hold Christmas parties and meetings through December 16.
Judge Samuel W. Greene, lecturer of the Chicago B of C 58, will speak at a mid day service broadcast over station WGN Chicago on Friday December 16 from 12 35 to 1 00. The talk titled The Christmas World Call is part of a series by various religious denominations.
Lois Bergold daughter of Mrs Frank Bergold of Dalton married Herbert Berwanger of Calumet City on Saturday afternoon December 10. The ceremony was at St. Mary's church rectory with Rev. John N Weiler officiating. They will reside in Calumet City.
A November survey of 68 Chicago area communities shows total permits for new building reaching 3,596,890 dollars, up 20 percent from last year and 24 percent over October. Leading towns include Glencoe, Waukegan, and Evanston with 14 communities over 100000 dollars, while educational and civic projects drive the surge. Edgar N. Greenebaum notes November marks the strongest suburban activity since 1931.
Ivanhoe Reading Circle will meet Tuesday December 20 at Mrs A P Rebmann’s home in South Holland. The P T A study group meets December 23 with a 1 PM start and a day afternoon program on December 23.
The Lincoln school P. T. A. mothers sponsor a Christmas dance in the gym on Friday evening December 16 from 7 30 to 11 30. The Originals provide the music and admission is 15 cents. The committee resumes dances to provide recreation for local youths and invites all to attend.
The Franklin Parent-Teacher Association thanks donors and patrons for a successful pinochle and banco party. Additions to the donor list published last week include Harms Bros Henry Michalski Mall Hardware Dalton area shops and Harvey business names such as Shafer's gift shop Walgreen's J. A. Bastar Goebel's boot shop and the Public Service company.
