Officials announce starting January first the new steel car shops at 103rd street will operate at full blast with 400 workers increasing to 2000. Orders total 3,500 cars from New York Central and 1,250 from Northwestern, promising year long work. The plants, completed months ago, had a dull start but now bring welcome news to Calumet region labor and local families.
