Solemn High Mass of Thanksgiving at noon marks St Mary’s Diamond Jubilee in Riverdale. Cardinal Albert Meyer will preside and preach, with Msgr. Kleinz and Rev. Baseheart assisting. parish history notes since 1886 and 1957 church dedication. banquet to follow in Farish Hall with clergy and laity invited.
The 1962 vehicle licenses for South Holland are available at the Collector's office. Rates mirror last year and include passenger cars $5, non taxi motor vehicles $5, taxis $7, larger hire vehicles up to $12, trucks tiered by class up to $12, with a $2 increase after March 1, 1982. Cars bought after July 1, 1962 qualify for half price if applied within 30 days.
Justin E Foldessy chief de law engineer of United States Steel will address Riverdale Kiwanis at the installation dinner on December 18 at 630 pm in the K of C Hall Riverdale. He will discuss Taxation With Representation from offices at 101 Exchange Ave Chicago.
Mr and Mrs Anthony Mikrut of 19 Blackhawk drive Thornton announce the birth of son Michael Allen born Saturday December 2 at Ingalls Memorial Hospital Harvey. He weighs pounds ounces at birth. The Mikruts also have three older children Anthony John Jr 15 Donald Joseph 13 and Diane Marie 10. Mikrut is general foreman of the composing room at Pointer Publications.
The 40 voice Adult Choir of Lorimer Memorial Baptist Church at 14801 Lincoln Ave Dalton will perform On Wonderful Night a Christmas story in Scripture and song on Sunday December 10 at 7 pm. Friends of the community are invited. A car fire was extinguished by Dalton Fire Centre in the alley at 14637 University Dolton front seat ablaze vehicle owned by Richard Setty Harvey.
Dolton plans a 12 hour daily crossing survey to measure how trains block roads. Village president Fred L. Kasten says the study will document rubbering delays caused by C E I Indiana Harbor Belt and B B I lines and may lead to action with railroads or the Commerce Commission. College students may assist during Christmas holidays.
Ralph H. Young, attorney at law, admitted to practice before Illinois Supreme Court May 11, 1949, was elected in April to serve as police magistrate for the Village of Riverdale. His firm, Winton Lind and Young, formed in February 1957, handles general legal practice. He will administer the judicial branch of the village government.

Laird from Thornton Township High. Also includes Christmas holiday tips and a local oxygen administration incident involving Helen Myskowski in Dalton.
Riverdale Chamber of Commerce invites entries for the 1961 Christmas Home Decoration Contest with 13 cash prizes led by 50 dollars for first place. Judges from South End Chamber of Commerce Roseland Lions Club and Roseland Kiwanis will tour December 22 and award December 24.
The Woman's Auxiliary to the Southern Cook County Branch of the Chicago Medical Society will hold a Christmas brunch at the home of Mrs. Gerald Gnade 620 F. 160th Place South Holland on Wednesday December 13 at 10 30 am. Members should bring donations and gifts for St Jarleth's.
Five years old Commander Lewis Aurhus announces Greater Dalton VFW Post 3564 will celebrate its fifth birthday Saturday December 9. Members and friends are invited to come out and enjoy the evening with refreshments. A Dalton Rescue Squad crew gave Richard O Rourke oxygen after he fainted from severe neck pain at 14632 University Dalton.
Illinois Supreme Court on November 30 1961 upheld Dalton Village power to charge licensing and permit fees for electrical contractors. The Allison Company confronted the village after a 1960 suit, with lower court ruling in the village’s favor. The decision supports regulatory oversight and contractor fee collection to protect residents.
Children aged six to eleven are urged to enter the Christmas coloring contest in The POINTER. Enter as many times as you like using any medium. Prizes include 15 for first, 10 for second, 5 for third, and twenty $1 honorable mentions. Entries due December 18 at local banks. Winners announced December 21 in The POINTER.
Sid Steele owner of the Dalton Dept Store reports twenty entries so far and expects over 1,000 entries before the February 2 1942 deadline. Riverdale and South Halland residents and groups are invited to participate from outside Dalton. Entries mailed to Mr Steele will be held until judging by the Dalton village board. the 14210 Clark street parkway has been repaired.
Santa and his helper will greet children on Saturday December 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the northwest corner of 144th and Wentworth Riverdale. Merchants on Sixth Street sponsor the visit. He arrives at the Riverdale Municipal Building and departs in a convertible along School Street to 144th and Wentworth with gifts for kids.
Vehicle tags for Riverdale passenger cars go on sale December 1 1941 at the Municipal Building 14 and Stewart Avenue costing 3.00 per tag officials say Anna Colebourn village collector. Truck tags priced by state classification and dog tags cost 1.00.
The Dalton Planning Commission voted 4 to 3 to deny rezoning the northeast corner of 154th Street and Cottage Grove in Dalton for a service station near St. Jude School. Fear of traffic hazards and gasoline storage endangering children weighed against the proposal. A petition with about 1,990 signatures from St. Jude Church opposed the project.
