Santa Claus called from the North Pole to check if local children have written Christmas lists. The Dalton Jaycees organize Santa calls on Monday or Tuesday, Dec. 16 or 17, from 6 to 9 pm with a coupon on Page 3 for scheduling.
The Ivanhoe Park District board reports completion of a two room fieldhouse expansion at 144th and Stewart. The $16000 addition includes a reception area and crafts room, funded from an Improvement Reserve Fund with no tax increase.

Acme Steel Co experienced four loud explosions Sunday night at its 135th and Perry plant during startup of a new basic oxygen cupola. No injuries or major damage occurred. moisture in the cupola produced hydrogen gas that ignited but released via a safety cap. Public relations director Harry Henderson said the incident caused alarm in Riverdale and Roseland and apologized for the disturbance.
The South Holland Jaycee ettes women's auxiliary will hold a Christmas meeting on Wednesday at 8:30 PM at the Dorchester Club Dolton. James of Wig World Chicago will present wig history and a fashion show with exotic styles and colors. Co chairs are Mrs Palletto Mrs Sturn and Mrs Welsh.
The Choir of the First Christian Reformed Church of South Holland invites the public to a Christmas Candlelight Concert on December 22 at 7:35 pm. The choir is directed by Andrew Vogel with Eleanor Van der Guessen on organ and Evelyn Vogel on piano.

An armed masked bandit robbed the Town and Country Motel in Calumet City near Sibley and East Enclave early Monday, taking $70 from the clerk and $1,000 in weekend receipts from the manager's office. Frank Kozak, 23, of Chicago, temporary night clerk, reported the $1,070 total and described the culprit. Porter Joseph Bonovoger, 70, Hammond, Ind., witnessed the scene through a window.
