Robbery Attempt Foiled at Clark Service Station
Two men tried an armed robbery at the Clark Service station in South Holland on December 1 but fled after a customer approached. Attendant Amand Bales reported the driver demanded road maps and warned “This is a stick up” before the suspects backed off as a truck arrived. Police traced the car and detained Thomas Westbrook, 17, of Chicago, who admitted other Chicago area robberies and being AWOL from Fort Bragg. He faced a Blue Island judge on December 3.
