Bearcats Win Northern Indiana Championship in 10 Innings
The Bearcats defeated Adams Tavern of East Chicago 6 to 5 in ten innings to capture the northern Indiana title at Hammond High School field before 5,000 spectators. Julius Van Keppel starred on the mound with relief duty in the last three games as Ketelaar, De Young and Paarlberg provided heavy hitting. Van Keppel earned the win as Adams Boosters were unable to score in the final frame. The victory sends the Bearcats to the state tournament in South Bend next week.
