CTA bid to buy bus lines fails after public hearing
The CTA failed to secure $3 million in federal and state grants to purchase South Suburban Safeway Bus Lines. State Rep. Thomas Miller says the effort is dead as 32 suburban mayors and presidents did not approve. Miller had urged an investigation into the acquisition, which could violate CTA and Regional Transportation Authority regulations. The initial May grant request for $2.1 million was rejected as incomplete by the state transportation department.
