A school bond election will be held tomorrow August 20 in Dalton at Park Avenue School from 11 AM to 7 PM. Voters in Thornton Township may vote on a $140000 bond to fund an addition to Thornton Township High School.
The Eastern Illinois Railroad company moves fast to start building its line. Contractor Mr. Drum has hired the Buda company for initial track work. Grading of the right of way starts immediately and paving Columbia avenue will begin soon with the railway crew. The plan includes double track and twenty feet of street paving.
A playful verse extols Petrie, a Knight Templar known for world wide fame and charm. The poet urges crowning him knight and hints at a celebratory treat and a requested souvenir during travels.
A local firm announces a supply agreement with Kennington Bakery to handle their cake goods. The arrangement aims to expand offerings and ensure steady delivery of baked treats to customers.
J. C. Vaughan a seedsman seeks the Democratic nomination for Congress in Illinois Second District comprising Chicago’s Thirty third, Seventh and Eighth wards and part of the Sixth. He is a well known local candidate promoting plant and agricultural interests.

A Swets and family plan to move to Grand Rapids Michigan to start a business. A Tesan of Milwaukee stays with N C Gouwens family. Tennis VanDuine rents the Swets farm and will run it. The Misses Frances and Myrtle Leenhouts of Milwaukee visit Mr Dalenberg and family. The Misses Mabel and Sadie of J C Gouwens and family.
Emil Winter of St. Louis returned Sunday after a week with sister Mrs Francisco Bowse. He once lived in Riverdale and enjoyed revisiting the old town. A Knight Templar, he attended the conclave and owns a Kirwood farm near St. Louis. He notes excessive rain and a Missouri over supply hurting local farmers.
Dolton residents Herman Wegner and Ben Raver attended the Modern Woo men's Picnic in Michigan City last Saturday. Dolton M E Sunday School members enjoyed an outing at Jackson Park last Wednesday. Fred Schubert returns from Cottage Grove Summer Resort in Roscommon Michigan after a week’s visit. The Blue Island Power Boat Club plans its annual motor boat parade and picnic on Sunday August 21 1910.
Congressman W. W. Wilson of Illinois says he votes his convictions and not the party line, attending every session of the last Congress. The Chicago Tribune notes his independence from Cannonism, marking him as an anti Cannon Republican in the Illinois delegation.
The Lund's Hall moving picture show features Friday night Phoenix dramatic, Saturday night Mazeppa and the Wild Horse of Tartary, and Sunday night A Postal Substitute. Doors open 7 00 PM with performances at 830 PM and 930 PM.
The Ladies Foreign Missionary Society gathered at Mrs. Albert Meyers residence. Mrs. Waterman and Mrs. Engle returned from South Bend to visit Waterman's parents. Mrs. Schroeder came back from Des Plaines to her former home. Miss Ricka Meister is recovering well after a Chicago operation. A new house is being built to replace the Berger home burned months ago. Street car surveyors have begun work and cars may arrive before winter.

Theodore Kavis age 14 son of police officer Frank Kavis drowned in the Calumet River about 2 P M last Friday near the C and E I bridge while swimming alone. His brother Frank watched from shore as the water wings slipped away and he sank. Rescuers retrieved his body at 2 30 P M and he was taken to Kensington then to Carlson and Powers undertakers.
A Coldwater Michigan editor recounts rushing to a mother's bedside during illness and returning to find the Junior Kinney's with Edward Wirtz Jr. assisting had prepared the local news for press. The Pointer emphasizes it never missed Friday mail, and no changes are made to sub-editors.
Dolton A A beat Stuart A C of Chicago 11 to 9 last Sunday. Dolton A A also claims a forfeit win against Homewood for no show. They are set to meet Riverdale Highballs Sunday on the Athletic grounds with admission 15 cents.
There will be no services at the German Evangelical Immanuel Church on Sunday August 21. Regular services resume with new pastor Rev. G G Press on Sunday August 28. Members needing ministerial services before August 28 should contact William J Albrecht.
The Dalton M. E. Church marks Parsonage Sunday with morning and evening sermons on giving and supporting the church work. Members, trustees, and the pastor are urged to contribute, bring subscription cards, and invite the public to participate. Reverend W. E. Olsson, pastor.
