Walter Weinreich and Edward Waterman of Chicago traveled 1850 route home from St. Louis when their car veered into a ditch after a steering rod broke. Both unhurt, they crawled free as the Peace Boat carried them along at 18 to 20 mph. Junior League of Ridge M. I. Church hosted an August 2 ice cream social with a plan by Mrs. Jank Kiekman, featuring games and neighborly chatter on the church lawn.

After decades of inactivity the Spalding tract between Ashland and Western Avenues and 141st to 155th Streets in Harvey shows new life with a $100000 transfer from Chicago Title and Trust trustees to Arthur Y. McIntosh and company. The project follows Harvey’s rapid decade of growth and aims to convert the long silent land into active subdivision development.
Mrs John Lange died July 29 after nearly thirty years confined to bed. Born in Germany in 1888 she emigrated to the United States in 1862 and married John Lange in 1876. She leaves two daughters and three sons and was buried at Oak Lawn Cemetery after funeral at the German Lutheran church.
