Cow Ownership Case Draws Odd Court Scrutiny
In a Justice of the Peace court, Julia Schoczylas claimed a cow stolen in January 1939. Testimony showed the animal had six teats, and after a sequence of custody and larceny allegations, the judge ruled the recovered cow’s halter belonged to her. An appeal was later pursued. Also notes include a rug guessing contest at Jansen Furniture and new stop signs in South Tolland urged by the Chicago Motor Club for safety.
