Lost Continent Fragments Suggested by Ocean Ridges
A reader asks why some South Sea islands may have been parts of continents. The reasoning cites early habitation, simple sailing, resemblance to humans, and ancient land bridges. Submarine ridges near Tasmania rising 11,000 feet above sea floor are cited as evidence of a shattered continent fragment.

Olive Growing Centers in Europe and North Africa
Spain leads in olive oil production with large domestic needs and growing exports. Italy has more olive area but lower normal yields than Spain. France concentrates on the Mediterranean coast and is shifting to vineyards, with 20 000 hectares converted from olives. Tunis and Algeria are seen as better prospects for olive growing than French Europe.
