Dolton Board Tackles Vandalism and Gas Quality Notice

Dolton village board met April 15 with all members present. Trustees discussed vandalism by youths damaging school property and bottle throwing on streets and alleys, promising police attention. The board also noted a state gas quality and price reduction notice and reviewed building, health, and fire systems along with upcoming Homewood flag raising events.

Street cleanup bids discussed and readvertised

The board reviewed bids for cleaning streets and alleys. Frank submitted 150 dollars for rubbish disposal in barrels and boxes. After discussion the board voted to readvertise for bids and Waddell noted unpaid health officer salaries. A clerk voucher was ordered and an ordinance raised the clerk’s salary to 100 dollars monthly starting May 1.

St Pauls choir hosts a box social at Village hall Riverdale on Saturday April 20. Dolton Fire Department to hold a May dance at Dillner’s Pavilion on May 4. Dolton Concert Band to perform May 1 at Lincoln Avenue School Auditorium for sailors and soldiers at the front. Albany Park M E church choir to sing at Lincoln Avenue School this evening with noted soloists. Tickets from Red Cross members.

Homewood Hosts 25th Anniversary Celebration Parade

Homewood invites all to the 25th anniversary of its incorporation with a flagpole dedication and service flag for hometown servicemen. Camp Grant soldiers and Great Lakes trainees will join a parade and services, with locals urged to line up machines at Riverdale and Indiana avenue for a 1 30 p m procession to Homewood. Proceeds from Red Cross ticket sales aid sailors and soldiers at the front.
