St Marys Altar Society to Host Juvenile Delinquency Talk

The Altar and Rosary Society of St Marys invites the public to a Monday evening meeting after the Forty Hours Devotion. Paulson and the New Conservative Party in Riverdale accused the Progressive party of copying their 1953 platform with minor changes. He cited three planks from 1953 and pointed to five wording changes in 1961. He urged open debate on the platforms and pledged to prove the charges.

Thornton Township GOP Women to Meet April 17 Speaker Chooses Board of Election

The Thornton Township Republican Women's Organization will hold its meeting Monday April 17 at 8 p.m. in the South Holland Municipal Building. Guest speaker will be Marie Suthers, the lone Republican member of the Board of Election Commissioners. All women in the township are invited, members or not, with Thornton and Homewood members hosting.

Four Hurt When Car Hits Train at Dalton Crossing

Four young people were seriously injured Friday evening April 7 when a car struck by passenger train No 92 at the C and E I railroad crossing on 138th in Dalton. Driver Glennon E Dye 22 and passenger Billy Wilbourn Jr 20 were treated at local clinics and hospitals for head lacerations concussion and possible internal injuries. Venita and Juanita Courville 19 were treated for lacerations and abrasions. Police say the car stopped for a freight train then the light signals were on as the eastbound car proceeded and the northbound train struck the car sending it into a spin stopping 25 feet from impact. Wilbourn was found between the rails.

Progressives Host Ladies Night at Pace Setter Civic Center

Dalton Riverdale Little League Auxiliary plans a dance on April 22 at the American Legion Hall Riverdale. The 9 30 p m event charges 150 admission with tickets at the door or from Maria Thomsen ways and means chair. Proceeds fund field equipment and new gear for four leagues teams this year.

Bake Sale Plan By Queen of Apostles Club

The Queen of Apostles Woman's Club will hold its annual Bake Sale Saturday April 15 from noon to 6 p m and Sunday April 16 from 6 a m to 1 30 p m at the school auditorium. Riverdale Names Charles K Cook Chief of Police

Charles K Cook, a lifelong Riverdale resident and Bowen School and Thornton Township High School alumnus, is named Riverdale Chief of Police. He has FBI and local police training, worked at International Harvester and Acme Steel, and has led the department for 12 years after a 15 year service as patrolman and assistant chief.
