Switchmen Win Additional Wages Across Twelve Railroads
Officials of twelve railroads and Chicago switchmen aligned with the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen agreed to a 1 cent per hour raise over the state board of arbitration rate, matching the federal board’s 3 cent raise for a total added payroll of about 2 million dollars annually across the western and midwestern yards. Indiana Harbor Belt yardmen were excluded but may join later to unify rates.
