Libertarian Shirley Jones Pushes Private Education Plan

In Rio Rancho last week Libertarian candidate Shirley Jones outlined a platform favoring private education funded by educational tax credits and vouchers. She advocates parental choice, competition to improve schools, and limited government schooling, while calling for targeted defense cuts and tax credits for doctors aiding the poor.

Women Of The West heads to KiMo in Albuquerque

One woman show by Deborah Blanche brings six western women to life on KiMo stage September 13 and 14 at 8 p.m. Presented by Action Arts, the production profiles Abigail Scott Duniway Pearl Hart Lola Montez and Josefa Mariposa among others with grants backing Blanche’s research and theatre work across New Mexico. Tickets cost 5 or 7 dollars and reservations can be made via Action Arts at 243-1673.
