New Mexico Man Magnant Leads Lobos On Field

Jeric Magnant, a walk-on receiver for the University of New Mexico, earned the title New Mexico Man under coach Bob Davie. At 6 foot 168 pounds, he surprised doubters by earning a football scholarship, carrying the state flag onto the field before kickoff. His journey echoes Rio Rancho star Chris Williams, CFL standout. The piece recalls a YAFL Super Bowl scare when Jeric, then kneeling on Milne Stadium turf, told his father he could not feel his legs before a swift recovery.
