Commissioner R W Johnson elected Democratic chairman in Sandoval County
R W Johnson of Cuba was elected County Democratic Chairman at a two hour Bernalillo meeting last Thursday. Rosita Martinez named Vice-Chairman and Peter Smith of Corrales secretary treasurer. Debates over precinct 16 Jemez Springs seating, new Rio Rancho precincts 37 and 38, and conflicting letters of certification led to a split vote and a temporary compromise granting each chair half a vote. The Credentials Committee later seated Garcia, a municipal judge, raising ethics questions about dual offices and residency.
