City election code amended in Rio Rancho campaign rules
The Rio Rancho city council amended the election and campaign practices ordinance to tighten reporting. Candidates must file reports on contributions and expenditures within 365 days before the election, with deadlines 28 days before, the day before, and 30 days after, plus semiannual post-election updates if debt remains. Any single expenditure over 250 requires itemized reporting including goods and services in lieu of cash, and contributors over 50 must be named and linked to totals. If totals stay under 250, an itemized report is not required but sworn statement is.
