Area has 600 generations of human presence visible from office windows. Bernalillo County hosts about 7000 prehistoric sites, over 60 percent buried under modern Albuquerque. From Clovis at 1040 B C to Folsom people around 8000 B C, ancient camps dotted mesas and river valleys as Ice Age landscapes changed. The Rio Grande region drew early hunter bands and stone tools preserved in arroyos and mesas. The Ria Rancho area hints at continued habitation before urban sprawl.
