Gallegos departs Rio Rancho for Sandoval County attorney post
Eddie Gallegos leaves Rio Rancho city attorney role to become Sandoval County in house attorney. County Manager Debbie Hays says growth justified the full time post, expected to save taxpayers money while expanding legal guidance for documents and court cases. He was chosen from 35 applicants for 53000 annually and starts October 18, promising to keep the county out of lawsuits.

Commission approves DWI plan for Sandoval County
The Sandoval County Commission backed a DWI plan from the DWT Planning Council to access about 1 million in state funded programs under a 5.2 million grant program. Plans due by Oct 15. The slate includes offender screening, coordinated monitoring, and innovative treatment options. In other business the commission approved landfill rate increases to 3.00 per pickup and 3.00 per cubic yard for commercial loads.

Two Rio Rancho pastors circulated a 10 question candidate survey to 21 hopefuls for five Rio Rancho school district board seats. Questions address curriculum and policy beliefs including science education, contraceptive instruction, and LGBT tolerance.
