Districting plan advances for city council races debated
City council discussed six district boundaries and selected Alternative 2 to present in ordinance form. Six districts would elect one councilor each with March 1986 votes for districts 2 3 and 5 and March 1988 votes for districts 1 4 and 6. The measure follows 1985 state mandate for single-member districts and public comments were requested ahead of the October 23 adoption hearing.

Settlement Reached On Paseo del Norte Bridge Dispute
TVA Governor Anaya announced a tentative settlement among the North Valley Neighborhood Association the Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque and the New Mexico State Highway Department over the Paseo del Norte Bridge and corridor. The plan includes immediate widening of Alameda Road, an overpass at Richfield Road from North Second to I-25 and Corrales Bridge expansion, with traffic and design safeguards to minimize Rio Grande Boulevard and Fourth Streets impacts and preserve open space. Public rights and administration of lands fall to Los Ranchos while Montana Road opposition remains.
