Sept. 11 Attacks Hit Rio Rancho Tax Revenues

Rio Rancho's gross receipts tax revenue for September totaled 1.03 million dollars, 43,823 below forecast, with finance director Dick Kristof citing the Sept 11 attacks in New York and Washington DC as a key factor. He notes August also fell, but September saw mixed results with construction and services outperforming expectations, softening the overall loss. Construction starts rose but total starts dropped 74, and higher priced homes influenced activity.

Rio Rancho ARPS audit shows great improvement

The Rio Rancho Public Schools district earned top marks on its annual audit conducted by The Accounting & Consulting Group L.L.P. The report notes five findings this year, down from eleven last year, with no material weaknesses or illegal acts. Day says further improvements are expected and all records were available for review.
