Pool players from Rio Rancho and surrounding areas are invited to enter a tournament at PJ's Cue in Rio Rancho. Semi finals begin Saturday November 11 at 7 p.m. Finals follow Saturday November 18 at 7 p.m. Attendees must enter both days. Prizes awarded for first second and third place. A car wash to support the annual President's Day Fun Run is set for this Saturday, Nov 11 at the Car Care Center on Southern Boulevard. The event runs from 9 am to 2 pm with donations welcomed.
The Cibola Cougars improve to 16-2 and advance to the AAAA state tournament in Roswell after beating Manzano 15-5 15-4 15-8. They then lost to West Mesa 15-3 15-6 15-5 to finish district action. Mindy Hale Natalie Rue and Amy Engleson named all district.
Cibola's Richard Brown led the boys with a 15 16.45 for third as the team finished sixth with 160 points at the District 2AAAA meet at Bullhead Park, securing a state meet spot. Eldorado and Manzano swept the meet, while Bernalillo placed fourth in the Friday District SAAA event behind Grants, St Pius and Albuquerque Academy.
Aunty Engleton soars for a spike against West Mesa on Saturday as Airborn-Cibola fielded a strong performance. Engleton and two teammates earned spots on the all-district team according to Observer-Tharinger photos.
