RRUC uses smoke tests to trace Orchid Drive gas issue

RRUC crews used smoke bombs and fans to trace sewer gas leaks along Orchid Drive in Rio Rancho. They identified leaks around manholes and plan to insert a new vented manhole 3,200 feet upstream to aerate sewage and curb hydrogen sulfide buildup. Residents hope for a summer improvement and clearer air.

Body found on West Side in arroyo near Coors Road

Albuquerque police investigate the death of Debra Botegoni, 37, of Corrales, whose body was found face down in a culvert under Coors Road in the Calabacillas Arroyo by two boys on an all-terrain vehicle. She wore a T shirt and jeans and is believed to have died from exposure. no foul play seen at the scene.

Noxious furnace fumes hospitalize New Mexico family

Four people were poisoned by carbon monoxide from an altered furnace on Golden Eye Loop in Rio Rancho. Roberta Montoya 40 was listed in critical condition at Presbyterian Hospital. Thelma Wengrofsky 67 Goldie Brown 77 and Phillip Brown 38 were treated and released. Relatives were in town for Irving Wengrofsky’s funeral.
