Powerhouse Church on Southern Boulevard honors four women for Mother's Day, highlighting Stephanie Jones who raised seven children after her husband was killed in 2009 and won a lawsuit for her kids.
Rio Rancho will install a new information and ad marquee at Arena Drive and Unser Boulevard to highlight events at City Hall and the Santa Ana Star Center. The project, funded by CNM, UNM, and Central New Mexico Community College, totals up to 350000 with CNM contributing 125000 and UNM up to 150000. The sign, expected soon, may generate about 20000 yearly in ad revenue and will allow dimming to zero percent overnight. UNM West will list courses and events on the marquee. The council also approved first reading for an ordinance codifying a voter photo ID charter amendment with free IDs for residents showing two qualifying documents.
Rio Rancho firefighter Severo Moreno, 33, was charged with sexual assault by Albuquerque police. He was arrested Monday and released on 250000 bond Tuesday. An affidavit says a woman reported the assault on May 6 and a prior abuse. Deputy Chief Paul Bearce says Moreno is on paid administrative leave while the investigation proceeds.
