Rio Rancho Public Schools plans to cut management costs about 25 percent below the state average by restructuring administration. Superintendent Dr. Sue Cleveland described a team oriented model with fewer managers who handle multiple tasks and strong cross department collaboration.
Rio Rancho Utility Corp.'s RRUC has three of its fourteen deep water wells out of service due to mechanical failures. Replacement pumps and motors are being installed, with one well already having parts delivered and two others awaiting 350 horsepower motors from Texas. The utility stresses it remains able to meet peak and winter demand, but warns continued outages could affect supply.
Rio Rancho seeks 3000 to fund a special DWI prosecutor amid stricter January laws and rising caseloads. Two state funded prosecutors start July 1 for Sandoval Valencia and Cibola counties. municipal court handles many first offenses. Local officials debate where cases should be prosecuted.
Leroy Arquero facing three DWIs had his case dismissed if he complies with a conditional discharge from a district court judge last week. The original 1993 conviction by Judge Frank Emerson included 180 days in jail, one year probation, and counseling, with most jail time suspended and fines reduced.
Blanche Deutsch, 81, pleaded no contest to reckless driving for striking Lincoln Middle School students as they boarded a bus last October. The collision injured Jennifer Lacey and Jackey Finch, with a court suspending sentencing and restricting her driving pending physician and DMV certification. A civil suit seeks medical expenses and damages. a court date is pending.
