Russell seeks to bar Kanin from District 44 ballot

Judy Vanderstar Russell filed in District Court to disqualify Corrales Mayor Gary Kanin from the June 7 primary over residency. Accused child molester turns self in to DPS

Rio Rancho man Kevin Barry, 53, surrendered to police on Thursday admitting the allegations. An arrest warrant charges him with four counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor and three counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor for incidents allegedly occurring in June and July 1991 when the victim was eight years old.

Arson Suspected After Rio Grande Forest Fire in Corrales

State Forestry official John Trejo says a Wednesday fire in the Corrales Rio Grande bosque burned over 45 acres and was not an accident. Investigators expect to identify suspects but have not arrested anyone. the case remains open as clues are pursued.
