AMREP officials and area business leaders described a strong path for Rio Rancho at a large Rio Rancho Homeowners Association meeting. The gathering, about 350 residents, highlighted bank growth from 4.2 to 15.8 million in deposits, plans for new jobs, and ambitions for attracting industry aided by AMREP. Early reports cited Eldorado at Santa Fe development, water and drainage upgrades, and a reuse system for golf course irrigation, signaling broad regional growth with a focus on energy benefits and improved infrastructure.
Corrales village council adopted amendments to tighten subdivision rules with cluster zoning definitions new application fees and stricter plat signing requirements plan and zoning officials explained the move aims to better regulate subdivisions ahead of broader comprehensive ordinances. The meeting also covered a potential moratorium on cluster housing and dog control issues raised by Veterinarian J Howard Sherrod who urged regional kennel cooperation and warned of rising animal waste and liability costs. The council also moved monthly meeting dates to the second Tuesday at 7 30 p.m.
Marjorie Cannizzaro of Rio Rancho, a great granddaughter of President Taft, announced her candidacy for the Republican nomination for Sandoval County Clerk. She serves as vice chair of the 35th Precinct and Rio Rancho Republican Club director, with 30 years of federal service in World War II era roles and NYC auxiliary police leadership. She and her husband live at 707 Oreja De Oro Dr SE in Rio Rancho.
The village of Corrales urges residents to return master planning questionnaires by April 1. Questionnaires are distributed by the citizen task force or can be obtained at the village hall for those who did not receive one. Barker-Bol Associates and Herb Smith will tabulate data for the plan. A second week of April meeting will discuss the basic research findings.
