Rio Rancho Department of Public Safety issued 5,367 traffic citations in 1988 up from 3,602 in 1987. Capt. Bob Allen cites new traffic officers Norman Knox and Robert Kenney and a focus on reducing violations as key factors.
The New Mexico Boundary Commission will hear testimony on Corrales petition to annex 2,455 acres next Monday. Proponents and opponents will present at a day long hearing starting at 10 a.m. in the Old San Ysidro Church. If approved Corrales would grow by about 60 percent and extend to the Rio Grande east, Rio Rancho west, Albuquerque south, and NM 45 north.
Corrales officials confirmed the resignation of Donnie Brawley, the village animal control officer, cannot be reconsidered. Brawley resigned at the Feb 27 Corrales Village Council meeting, with a personnel hearing slated for March 3 canceled per New Mexico Municipal League guidelines.
