Bernalillo bosque fire nears homes along Rio Grande
Firefighters from multiple area departments battled a major bosque blaze on the east side of the Rio Grande near Bernalillo. The one mile fire began just before 2 p.m. and reached 200 feet in the air before containment around 5 p.m. Ten homes were evacuated but later allowed to return. no injuries or damage reported. The cause is under investigation.

Balloon crashes injure passengers in Big Rancho flight
Gusty winds likely caused a hot air balloon crash near Idalia Road and NM 528. World Balloon Corporation pilot Frank Gallegos, with 30 years of experience, had eight passengers aboard. three were hospitalized and five injured.
