Break In Main Canal Floods Corrales Homes

A main canal breach on Corrales Road in Corrales flooded the Archibeque home of the Poljaksang Architeques. Neighbors, sandbags, and emergency crews used pumps and loaders to drain thigh-deep water and remove standing water from the carpeted house. Compensation for damages remains uncertain.

Jewish War Veterans Sabbath marks library donation event

Albuquerque JWV Post 375 will present The Jewish War Veterans Story to Congregation B nai Israel library on Saturday June 9. The event, titled Jewish War Veterans Sabbath, starts with 9 a.m. services at 4401 Indian School Road NE. Rabbi Isaac Celnik will lead a Call to the Torah as JWV members from New Mexico posts attend. The book recounts the group’s activities since its formation and their hospital volunteer work for veterans of all faiths. Congregation members and the public are invited to the Sabbath service and Oneg Shabbat.
