Burton named to replace Dunn in Rio Rancho council

Eugene Burton, 75, will be sworn in June 25 as city councilor replacing Mary Dunn who died April 25. Burton, a former two time council member, will complete Dunn's term, serving as an at large member from District 4. County jail cook suspended after marijuana found

A 26-year-old Bernalillo woman May Grace Estrada was suspended from her weekend cook job at Sandoval County Jail after officers found a marijuana cigarette during a sobriety check on the way to work. She faces charges of furnishing drugs to a prisoner, bringing contraband into a jail, and possession of under an ounce of marijuana. Sheriff Carlos Pino said the possession count may be dropped. The cigarette was inside a cigarette package.

AMREP expands Rio Rancho golf course with Trevino Graves

AMREP Southwest and Dallas firm Trevino Graves plan a 27 hole expansion of the Rio Rancho Golf and Country Club. Construction starts October and should finish by June 1988. The new nine holes will be north of the current course and feature championship distances.

Cibola High School Graduates 370 In UNM Arena Commencement

Cibola High School celebrated 370 graduates at the University of New Mexico Arena with remarks from outgoing Student Body President Debra Rue and the presentation of the yearbook on May 20.
