Fourth suit filed over Seven Bar annexation

Rio Rancho OKs solid waste ordinance with franchise plan

The Rio Rancho City Council unanimously approved a solid waste ordinance on May 26 requiring residential and commercial collection and non exclusive franchises with qualified haulers. A companion franchise ordinance set terms for 10 year contracts and city fee share while enforcement allows municipal court actions for nonpayment.

Rio Rancho approves limited fireworks under strict rules

Mayor David Bruening broke a tie to adopt an amended ordinance permitting certain safe and sane fireworks for a June to July window with age restrictions and safety limits. The 4-2 vote, amid public input split on bans, authorizes a permit system and includes penalties, while other actions cover Mountain States Telephone franchise, a building plan review code, and a police detoxifier purchase.
