Memorial Day Parade Draws Rio Rancho Crowd

Monday's Memorial Day parade in Rio Rancho drew crowds along Southern Boulevard. Cub Scouts from Pack 714 raised an American flag on a float while 3 year old Angelina Gurule waved from beside her grandmother. At Veterans Monument Park Col Terrence Feehan spoke with praise for Kirtland AFB and the U S war on terrorism. U S Senator Jeff Bingaman urged veterans efforts to build a local war museum. Organizers hailed it as the citys biggest parade by participation and audience.

Fire damaged Bernalillo landmark keeps doors open

Shopping continues at the Jackalope in Bernalillo after a Friday fire tore through a building on US 550. Firefighters contained the blaze in 20 minutes and extinguished it in 90, though the structure was destroyed while the business reports only a slight drop in sales. Visitors from Kansas and Colorado stopped by, unsure if the store remained open.

Parents mourn 15 year old Reid Branning death

Westside Boulevard project advances with Curb North funding

Albuquerque and Rio Rancho Mayors announced that Westside Highway will be built by Curb North. Phase I covers from NM 528 to Golf Course Road with two lanes, later extending to Unser Boulevard. The multi million dollar project will be funded entirely by Curb North as cross border cooperation resumes.
