Presbyterian Rust Medical Center will hold a career fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday August 4 in the main hospital lobby. The event promotes positions in the second patient tower cancer center opening in November, including NICU, ICU, ED, nursing, therapy, social work, admitting, and support roles. PNM reports a new scam where criminals threaten disconnection and demand payment by phone. A caller pretends to be a PNM employee and uses a fake 1 800 number. Customers are advised to hang up and call 1 888 DIAL PNM to verify and report fraud to law enforcement.
Sandoval County leads New Mexico in a Smart Asset ranking of county economic investment. The county shows a 2.5 percent rise in new business ventures over two years and posts the highest rate of new building permits at 15.5 per 1,000 homes, far above the state average. The report also notes Roosevelt, Lincoln and other counties in the top ten.
Nineteen German youths arrived in Albuquerque's Northeast Heights after a whirlwind visit to White Sands and Santa Fe. Led by Eleonore Kluge, they will tour the capital and then depart August 12 for Washington, D C, continuing a German exchange begun in 1999. Michael Schubert praises the contrast with Germany.
A free event at Cabezon Park next Tuesday 5 to 8 p.m. invites Rancho residents to join National Night Out. Proceeds from booth rentals go to Boys & Girls Club of Rio Rancho and Haven House. Mayor Gregg Hull and Councilor Shelby Smith will speak at 6 p.m. Kyle Martin performs. Proceeds aid local shelters and youth programs.
Marilyn Seeling, 76, of the Jemez area, who was critically injured in a July 19 crash on US 550, died Monday. The driver of the Toyota involved was treated and released, while Seeling’s remembrance event is planned for Sunday at Idalia Road Marketplace. Seeling was a longtime vendor at the marketplace and called “My Aunt's Attic” featuring antiques and glass sets.
