Volunteer counselors needed for Sandoval seniors program
The Sandoval Senior Connection seeks senior peer counselors aged 55 or older to train for a year. Volunteers commit 3 to 5 hours weekly, receive 42 hours of September training, ongoing supervision, and CE from licensed professionals. Program run by Family and Children's Services, funded by New Mexico Office of Indian Affairs and Indian Area Agency on Aging. Call Betty Bilgson at 243-2551 for details.

Meadowlark Senior Center expansion approved in Rio Rancho
The City Council awarded a 394168 contract to Brycon Corp. for Meadowlark Center expansion and renovation after bids exceeded the budget. City funds cover 60000 from public works savings, with 150000 from Sandoval County and 150000 from the state legislature. Project adds multipurpose room, new roof and kitchen upgrades, to be finished in about five months.
