New Mexico GOP Chooses Delegates At Albuquerque Convention

Republicans meet at the Albuquerque convention center for the Quadrennial Delegate Selection and Biennial Platform conventions. Senator Barry Goldwater spoke at a Friday fundraiser drawing about four hundred attendees. Vice President George Bush spoke Saturday before roughly two thousand two hundred attendees. Christine Donisthorpe was reelected National Committeewoman. Delegates to the Dallas convention were named with Sandoval County well represented.

Cibola Band Camp Starts August First At Cibola High

Cibola Highs Golden Regiment opens camp August 1 with freshmen and percussion practicing 8 to noon in the band room. Band camp runs August 1 to 6 and 8 to 15, with a busy 1984-85 schedule including football games parades and concerts. Band director Rick Owens notes multiple march contests and community performances plus a Durango festival. The article also notes the band’s community service and free public concerts. An Earth Systems seminar on Passive Solar Design led by Jack Belcher runs July 28 in Corrales at the Mercado de Maya complex with a $30 fee. Continuous contact provided.
