Gas line rupture closes part of Jager Drive in Rio Rancho

Firefighters responded to a ruptured four inch natural gas main on Jager Drive in Enchanted Hills near Home Depot. Construction work with a backhoe caused the leak. New Mexico Gas Co. crews arrived and secured the line. No evacuations were required and the area remained closed for hours.

Lujan Grisham staff plan local office hours

Staff for U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham will hold mobile office hours at the Sandoval County administration building on Tuesday July 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. County residents can ask questions and raise issues for the congresswoman to consider as commissioners requested the event. If interest remains, the hours could become a regular service, per Susan Grisham's staff.

Charges dropped against Emily Lucero in 2013 NM 528 murder case

The 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office filed a nolle prosequi, dropping first degree murder and related charges against Emily Lucero after Amanda Jo Lucero was acquitted in a self defense ruling. Emily’s case could be refiled. Amanda Jo Lucero used Emily’s .45 handgun to shoot Andrew Anderson near NM 528 and Barbara Loop at about 7:30 a.m.

Rio Rancho to vote on water bonds and Purple Heart status

Rio Rancho governing body plans two meetings this week. A special session at City Hall will review charter amendment recommendations. A regular meeting will vote on issuing 58.2 million in water and wastewater bonds to design a new sewer plant and refinance 2007 bonds to save costs.
