Rio Rancho City Manager Jimenez ousted by council vote

Rio Rancho officials voted 4-2 to force Jimenez into involuntary retirement, awarding about 144000 dollars. Acting city manager Jim Babin will earn 150000 annually, while Deputy City Attorney Kenneth Tager will be interim city attorney at 105000. Clayton Scott Wilkins were the TEA Party endorsed newcomers driving the change. Gutierrez and Thomas dissented.

Rio Rancho raises for police chief and others spark debate

City records show Police Chief Bob Boone’s May pay rose from 99,985 to 112,008 after a 12 percent increase layered on the standard 2 percent citywide raise. The 2 percent citywide hike brings Boone to 114,248 annually, as Jimenez defends the raises for Boone, Beckett, fire battalion chiefs, and the fire marshall amid council concerns.
