Rio Rancho adults split on new school district proposal

A poll of 600 Rio Rancho residents shows 53 percent of adults without children favoring a new Rio Rancho district, with support strongest among northern residents in the Jemez Valley area and concerns over taxes, size, and local control shaping opinions. The study notes a strong community identity, a 4 percent margin of error, and was funded by APS, Jemez Valley, and Rio Rancho Industrial Alliance for the state board of education review.

Grand jury to address voter fraud allegations

District Judge Kenneth Brown will convene a grand jury on July 30 to review voter fraud claims in Sandoval County. He summoned 110 prospective jurors. 12 will serve. The Citizens for Clean Government petition sparked the probe citing address issues, record-keeping errors, purges, and multiple ballots.
