Rio Rancho Civic Day poster contest and pool party weekend
Rio Rancho hosts a pool party at Haynes Park this Sunday at 6 PM with a potluck and $3 per adult rate. Three local businesses sponsor a poster contest for Civic Day themed Rack N Ris with prizes for ages 5 to 14 and a deadline of August 1. Pre-registration ends tomorrow for the Friends of the Rio Rancho Library annual pet show Saturday at Haynes Park from 10 AM to noon with a $1 fee. call 892-1717 for details.

Buses May Roll by Late August In Rio Rancho
Sun Tran and Sandoval County may launch Rio Rancho bus service by August 22 with two Sun Tran routes to Albuquerque shopping centers and express peak trips. AMREP Southwest security guard Rick Mayer filed a dawn patrol report on July 3 describing a bear in Vista Hills near Copper and at NM 528 and 46. Initial notes cited two bears, but follow up confirmed a single bear observed near River's Edge and Grande Vista with sightings by Rancho 5 and Rio Rancho Public Safety.
